Adv. Uma Shanker Rahul Sharma appointed Founding Member and Director of the International Mixed Disability Cricket Council

Former State Commissioner and State Minister for Divyangjan, Government of Rajasthan, joins IMDCC's Board.

The International Mixed Disability Cricket Council (IMDCC) today announced the appointment of Adv. Uma Shanker Rahul Sharma, Advocate at the Rajasthan High Court and Former State Commissioner and State Minister, Commissionerate for Divyangjan, Government of Rajasthan, as a Founding Member and Director of IMDCC.

As State Commissioner, Adv. Sharma exercised the powers of a civil court under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, deciding cases on accessibility, inclusive education, employment and the rights of para-sports players. He championed out-of-turn job allocation in government services for para-players and a sports academy with financial support for players with disabilities. His own life changed in 1999, when he survived a serious accident; his book Since 1999 – My Ability is Stronger than Disability tells that story. In 2017 the Government of Rajasthan gave him its State Level Special Recognition Award.

As a Director of IMDCC Ltd, Adv. Sharma will help guide IMDCC's governance and strategy, bringing his legal and disability-rights expertise to its work on eligibility, safeguarding and the rights of players. IMDCC promotes mixed disability cricket internationally, in which players with physical, hearing and intellectual impairments play together in one team, and supports countries to build national Men's, Women's and Under-19 teams.

"Sport gives every person a chance to show what they can do. Mixed disability cricket puts that belief into practice, with players of every ability in one team. I am proud to help build IMDCC on a foundation of rights, dignity and fair play, so that players everywhere have a pathway to represent their country."Adv. Uma Shanker Rahul Sharma, Founding Member and Director, IMDCC
"Adv. Sharma has spent his career turning disability rights into real change for people's lives. His experience in law and government, and his own remarkable story, will strengthen IMDCC as we grow mixed disability cricket around the world."Sushil W Gaikwad, Founding Director & Chairperson, IMDCC

IMDCC is planning the IMDCC Founding Forum in London in April 2027, bringing together cricket and disability leaders from around 10–12 countries.
