Chairperson of the Divyang Cricket Council of India to lead IMDCC's work to grow mixed disability cricket worldwide.
The International Mixed Disability Cricket Council (IMDCC) today announced the appointment of Shri Rajesh Bhardwaj, Chairperson of the Divyang Cricket Council of India (DCCI), as a Founding Member and Chairperson of IMDCC.
IMDCC, based in London, has been established to promote mixed disability cricket and create awareness of it internationally. In mixed disability cricket, players with physical, hearing and intellectual impairments play together in one team. IMDCC will support national cricket boards and disability cricket bodies with governance, structure and practical help, so that more countries can build national Men's, Women's and Under-19 mixed disability teams.
As Chairperson, Shri Bhardwaj will lead IMDCC's Board and strategy, and represent IMDCC with national cricket boards, partners, governments and sponsors. He will help shape IMDCC's constitution and membership model, and its founding partnerships. DCCI is IMDCC's first confirmed partner.
"Cricket belongs to everyone. Mixed disability cricket shows what players of every ability can achieve together, and I am honoured to help bring it to cricket-playing nations around the world. Through IMDCC, we will work with national boards and disability bodies so that men, women and young players have a national team to aspire to."Shri Rajesh Bhardwaj, Founding Member and Chairperson, IMDCC
"Shri Bhardwaj has given years of leadership to cricket for players with disabilities in India. His appointment gives IMDCC the experience and standing it needs as we invite cricket boards and partners to join us in growing this game internationally."Sushil W Gaikwad, Founder Member, IMDCC
IMDCC is planning the IMDCC Founding Forum in London in April 2027, bringing together cricket and disability leaders from around 10–12 countries to agree a shared plan for the format's growth.
